Spring Sprang Sprung and Now It’s Summer
It’s been bussyyyyyy this spring! Here’s all the things I’ve been to, watching, and eating. Alsoooo, if you haven’t yet, check out my Denver lists and send to your friends<3
Hair Doneeee
I got my haiiiirrr doneneeeeee a couple weeks ago! Obviously by @johnna.thehairgoddess, my girl Johnna, the color and blonde and extension and hair goddessssss. I had a couple concerts coming up and hit up Johnna to do a pink cheetah look that she absolutely slayed. Yes she paints my hair but she’s also a great friend so it’s always always a good hang. She is up in Fort Collins and that’s how much I love her and her husband Austin, driving up there for ‘em ;) I usually bring Ryder too and we either grab food or hang out after. Which leads me to…
Lego Scandal
Johnna and Austin introduced us to the scandal that is this stolen $200,000 inventory of Star Wars Lego. So, a guy in Salem, Oregon had around $200,000 worth of Star Wars legos that he had his son help him basically consign to a Bricks and Minifigs store (a popular Lego reseller). He’d get a commission off of any of his Lego this store sold. This specific franchise (store) ended up switching owners and in this switch, the integrity of the contract about this Star Wars inventory and commission was questioned and ultimately ignored by the new owners of the store and by Bricks and Minifigs Corporate. Watch Reckless Ben on YouTube as well as Coffeezilla to get the full picture, but basically the inventory was never returned to the owner and is probably being held by that Bricks and Minifigs store or Bricks and Minifigs Corporate. It’s crazy we got so engulfed.
Comedy Show Tommy Brennan
Once we were up to date on the Lego Scandal, we headed to The Comedy Fort in Fort Collins to see a comedy show! Ha! The openers were Sam Sisson who had the best ever shaved head jokes which I obviously can relate to heavily, and Russell Keller who had some really funny jokes about being gay even though he isn’t (please I’m generalizing okay!!). The main event was Tommy Brennan, who we loooove to watch on SNL. He was SO funny! I didn’t know he was from a small town in MN, so being from Fargo, ND, he made extremely relatable jokes for me. Gosh they were all really funny and I haven’t laughed like that in a while. Highly recommend going to a comedy show with friends to laugh it all out.
Little Man Ice Cream
After the show we stopped at Little Man - they’ve got locations all over Denver and this one in Fort Collins was no different! So cute, so many flavors, delicious. I always love their ice cream, and luckily this line was shorter than the one over in LoHi. Their classic flavor is this salty Oreo, Salty O, which I got. I also go mmmm something I can’t remember. Johnna got the ube cheesecake and it was so purple lmao. Ugh I love ice cream.
Night Market on Federal
The Night Market on Federal is every Saturday and Sunday during the summer months from 5-10 pm. It’s a giant food market with music and hangs and we finally got the chance to go with our friends Ashley and Daniel! We literally ate our way around this place. Gosh what’d we get, some diiiifferent type of sushi, lots of meat skewers, a sugarcane drink, tanghulu, some spicy and not-so-spicy sausage, and others I can’t even remember right now. It was a great time, free to go, highly recommend!
The Latest Coffee and Matcha
We hit some goooood food over the past couple weeks. Vivid minds has been on my list to go to and we finally stopped by for a little drink and treat, and it was awesome. I got a pb and j latte and it was faaaaab, Ryder got a guava mango matcha and that was also amazing. We really enjoyed their seasonal menu choices. We also grabbed a couple chocolate chip cookies they had from a local baker and they were great.
Out on a walk we went over to 16th Street to find a little drink. We’ve seen this little matcha place a bunch of times and finally decided to stop - Ichigo Matcha! I grabbed a Taro Matcha and Ryder got strawberry matcha swirl ice cream in a cup. They were both so good! Tasty. Nice for a little stop on our walk. A busy place! A huge menu!
Another coffee shop on my list to get to was Home Away Coffee. We were in the neighborhood the other day, needed a drink, and decided to stop. Yum!!!! They’ve got the usual coffee drinks you need, but what I was really looking for was the seasonal menu. I wanted to try them all. I ended up choosing the Peaches and Cream Matcha and I couldn’t have been happier - this tasted literally like the best matcha mixed with fresh dang peaches. No artificial peach flavor in sight which I give big ups for. Ryder got cold brew and it was strong, flavorful, and definitely will wake you up.

Tlaquepaque in Colorado Springs
We were down in Colorado Springs for the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb Fan Fest, and obviously had to stop at one of our faves, Tlaquepaque, before we got started. This is a classic Mexican place with plates, pozole, birria, combos, quesadillas, burritos, tacos, really anything you could dream of. This time I got the birria tacos combo and it was TOP TIER. Wow. and the agua fresca, you know I love the Jamaican. Stop here if you’re in the Springs.
King of Wings
A classic for us, we hadn’t been in a while and were craving some chicken wings. I love their wings, they’re the best next to my stepdad’s. I love their sauces, I love their onion rings, and Ryder got their tenders which are SO good too. We just love KoW and personally this is my number 1 wing place in the area.
Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb Fan Fest
Usually we go to the actual race day for Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb, but this year we opted for the easier option of going to Fan Fest the Friday before. After we filled up on food (see above) we parked and walked - and walked and walked. The Fan Fest spanned 12 or so blocks and was huge. It was so filled with people and cars and it was pretty cool. We saw some bike jumping, we checked out cars that were racing and cars that were just there to be looked at. There was a bunch of swag if you wanted it, and it was a fun atmosphere! Easy way to get in on the action without having to plan to be on the mountain for the race.
I Got a New Tattoo
I did get a new tattoo…I’m trying to finish my left arm up and I got a bat on the back of my upper arm! I went back to Kevin White at Bob’s Tattoo Joint. Now I’m thinking about what’s next and I’ve got a lot of room everywhere that isn’t my arms, so I’m excited! I’ve got some ideas but I’m keeping those secret.
Pool Kids and Tiger’s Jaw show
Spring can be busy with shows because bands plan their dang spring tours and I swear all of them get in a room to see how close they can make their dates. This obvious practice results in us going to two shows in two days! (I’m being sarcastic if you can’t sense). We had the best time. First we had the Pool Kids and Tiger’s Jaw show. I’ve been waiting to see Pool Kids and their performance was incredible. Wow. I’ve already seen Tiger’s Jaw and they’re iconic, and they just really rocked. It was a great time down at Gothic.
Amyl and the Sniffers at Red Rocks
The next dang day we rested up so that we could head to Red Rocks for the show of a lifetime. Amyl and the Sniffers is one of my absolute favorite bands and I haven’t gotten the chance to see them yet, so this was so exciting. We got fourth row seats, which I’ve also never done at Red Rocks, and wow what an experience. If you have a favorite band going to RR I’d highly suggest getting some reserved seats to be close. It felt like we were in the show! A dream. Everything. We also got to see L7 right before them, 29 years after their last performance here. They were fantastic! So badass.
Love Island
Well I’m currently watching the Casa Amor episode and my jaw has kind of just been on the floor about how the boys are acting with these new girls. Drama, I know, and I’m loving it. We needed this shake up to be honest. Also! I love love LOVE Ciara and Tefi on Aftersun. I like watching them so much!!! Oi I can’t wait to see what happens on our next episode. The new boys hahahhaha.
Bravo
In the City is only keeping my attention because of Lindsay and Kyle to be honest. I don’t like Kenny. I don’t really like the show that much right now.
But Summer House - that Aftermath episode? Weird. Did we learn much? Not really. But time is doing its thing.
And the RHORI reunion first episode!! I love these women so much. What first season.
On Repeat
Tea Lady Cycle Syncing Powders - I add these to my coffee in the morning. Every. Morning.
Cheese and meat wraps - easy to grab when I need something but have a funny tummy.
Hydrate Mio - I love adding this to my water for a lil flavor and vitamins or whatever.
Rose Water Toner from Trader Joes - I always spray this on my face first thing after a shower, before the rest of my skincare.
Adidas Tokyo Mary Janes - I got these because I thought they were so cute, but now that I know that they’re THIS comfortable I might need the other color.
Coachtopia purse - my everyday purse is a tan Coachtopia purse that I just love. It’s Ridiculous How Much I Love Denver, Part 1: Coffee Shops and Bakeries
