It’s Ridiculous How Much I Love Denver, Part 4: Pizza
Here we are, at the pizza part of the list making. I love a good pizza, but don’t call me the pizza guru. I like so many different kinds, and I think it’s pretty hard to make a BAD pizza. Please keep this in mind.
There are maaaany many places to get pizza across the Denver Metro, and I’ve worked to narrow it down from everything, to some of my favorites. I feel like Denver has some good pizza, some great pizza, and some bad pizza. I want to hit spots that are dine in, as well as some places you’d order delivery.

White Pie is one of my personal favorite favorite places to go for pizza and experience and apps and everything. Over on 17th in Uptown, they specialize in New Haven-style wood fired pizza both deep dish and thin crust, and they have freaking fabulous appetizers too. I am a deep dish girl all day and you need to go for it. Get a special kind and then get like, a classic. Their dollops of ricotta on top make me want to cry. I love sitting. At the bar and watching th make the pizza in the oven. Definitely get a reservation or expect a wait if you’re going during peak hours or on weekends.
Blue Pan is another classsssic here in Denver for deep dish. They’ve got a couple locations in Denver and one in Golden; they aren’t too big, so again with the reservations. This place is sooo good. Again I love the deep dish (this is Detroit style), I love a salad, I love a little family style here. I remember bringing my grandma and she really liked it, even if she didn’t like it as much as Pizza Ranch back in ND. They do have GF available.
Fat Sully’s is the pizza side of Atomic Cowboy instead of the biscuit side, which has locations across the metro. We’re usually hitting the one on Colfax for big cheap slice of pizza. There’s an ordering window and outdoor stools, but there’s also sit down seating inside. These slices are huge and I love that you can get any toppings and it’s just freakin good. I’m a mushroom, sausage, black olive girl usually, but a cheese is so good. This is your late night out spot if you’re in the area.
Cart-Driver has two locations, one in LoHi and one in RiNo. They’re more on the fresh side than the greasy side; it’s somewhere you can go for pizza and oysters and BOTH are good. The clam pizza too! My personal favorite is when it’s peach season they’ll do a peach special, the last one had like Calabrian chili oil and honey and peaches and prosciutto or something along those lines. I want it again someday.
Redeemer in RiNo is a fun fun places. They’ve got these big slices and a small menu. Usually you’re picking between a cheese, pepperoni, or a special slice. They’ve got some little snacks like pickled veggies, and we usually grab a can of Diet Coke. You can sit down and eat in the front, which we’ve never done, or you can go to the back where you order and sit with your number. It’s cute, you can see into the daytime debauchery of Meadowlark nextdoor.
Get Rights checks a lot of boxes, and they’ve already been in our bakery blog. This is about their pizza, which is freaking fabulous. They’ll sell big rectangle slices during the day, the crust is so perfect and they get me with the fresh Parmesan. For a while they did pizza service and they still do periodically. They also do gelato seasonally!! But dang this pizza. Any kind. They kill it.
Marquis Theater off 20th has some of the best NY-style pizza in town. It’s awesome because when you go to shows there, you can have pizza!! And if you don’t go to the shows there, you can have pizza!! But it is super fun to go to shows at this venue, it’s just a super plus that they also happen to have such good giant slices.
Sneaking City O’ City in here because their pizza is so good. The sausage and peppers!! My brother literally loves it. Be warned they take a minute to cook but they’re worth it. I think they have a deal maybe on Wednesday’s if I remember correctly.
Walter’s 303 has locations across the metro and is a good place with apps (wings etc) and pizza and lasagna and salads and sandwiches. Their lasagna is fire and the pizza is pretty good. I feel like the salad and sandwich options didn’t leave much to be desired. I will admit I haven’t been in a couple years because when I first moved here it was such a common thing to have around and I got sick of it. Maybe I’ll head back and re-review! The pizza was good enough to get into again. It’s a popular spot! Good ranch.
Happy Camper is up in LoHi and so much fun! It’s got so much seating and all of it is aesthetic. I’ve been here for various things and it always hits - hanging with a friend, family in town, group functions. A friend recommends the Nadine pizza. They have a big menu of different pizzas than you’d usually see. I like their apps too!! Gosh we haven’t been in a bit. Loud but has a viiiiibe. Doesn’t allow face tattoos but they are biased.
Shoutout to back when we had Pizza 3.14 in Uptown Denver. I loved their pizza, the different kinds, it was just good! Easy to order and easy to go pick up. It was so convenient and waghhh I miss it.
Woody’s Wood-Fired Pizza in Golden is a buffet and o m g a good dang buffet. They have salad, soup, and then they’ve got the pizza all laid out. The best part is, if there’s a pizza on the menu that you want on the buffet, you just order it! Then you can have it!! Gah. It was so good, there was a fig one I remember. There was this amazing beer cheese soup that I dipped my pizza and crust in. I also love ranch, I’m from Fargo so don’t even start with me, and they had good ranch.
For my friends who like to make a lil pizza at home, here are my opinions on pre-made dough. My #1 is the Whole Foods pre-made dough. It always turns out so good and I always eat the crust - I’m not a crust girl so you know it’s good if I eat it. Next is Trader Joe’s pre-made dough, which is pretty good! I also like their pizza sauce, and it’s all in one spot next to the mozz, which is great. I’m always pushing for a margherita pizza when we do at home because it’s allllllways good.

Do you want me to fight over Pizza Hut, Domino’s, and Papa John’s? I don’t like them anymore, or at least not here. What used to taste so good now tastes, not good. Bad. I have opinions and I can make choices and my opinion is that these are bad pizza and I can choose anything else.
Don’t come for me. I didn’t say I never liked them and I don’t still try to. Okay?!
