Halfdays Gear Review: Being Better Edition 8
I am really picky about what I wear. I do a lot of activities and in general like to be comfortable and cute. I style a lot of my gear in my everyday looks, and am specific about the pieces I buy and wear. I wanted to highlight my favorite pieces, brands, and styles for you, just because I love them.
Starting off with Halfdays was a no brainer. I love this brand! Women, Olympian, athlete, badass-owned and run with a vision of making the mountain accessible to women. I’m often wearing Halfdays for walks, hikes, at the gym, on the mountain, around town, out and about, literally anywhere. I love mixing these outdoor pieces into streetwear type outfits, and the quality is so incredible. I feel soooo lucky we’ve got the HQ here, I frequent it. They just dropped their new spring collection: https://www.halfdays.com/
Kara Bra (on sale right now!)
Regular price: $75, Last run: $53
Web Description: Our medium-impact sports bra, fabricated with brrr° fabric technology that wicks sweat and cools skin temperature for peak active performance.
My review: I really like this sports bra! I got it in an XL after trying on the Large and deciding it would be too small. I have a larger chest that can affect the sports bras I like to wear, and this was my first in finding something I liked that fit well. I really like to wear this one to the gym and out for summer hikes! It stays put in a way that I like and it’s sooooo cute with the seams across the front and the keyhole in the back. It’s so soft but the band is strong enough around my chest that I’m not bouncing around. 9/10, only docking because I have felt my boobs inching toward the band so would love more space in the bra with a bit tighter band. But that’s based on my body shape! Overall this is such an amazing sports bra and I love the color.
I have it in Alpine in an XL.

Sunn Seamless Tank
Regular price: $65
Web Description: Our technical everyday tank, designed with a soft, compressive ribbing for full support, and quick-drying to keep you dry, no matter where the trail takes you.
My review: This. Tank. Is. My. Holy. Grail. 10/10 I will tell you right now. This is the perfect tight tank that I an wear without a bra under. I wear this all the dang time when it’s warm out as my top. You can dress it up with a necklace and a skirt, you can dress it down with literally anything else you want to wear. I got Black to go with a majority of my closet and to hide any swoobs happening. I truly love this tank, I wear it on walks and around town and to dinner and everywhere.
I have it in Black in XL.

Mollie T-Shirt (on sale right now!)
Regular price: $65, Last run: $46
Web Description: Our performance fitted trail t-shirt, designed with a moisture-wicking rib knit fabric that's here to handle the toughest of expeditions in style.
My review: These t-shirts are also on rotation for me when it warms up. They wick sweat and look sooo cute with the white stitching. I wear these around town, I wear them for walks, I wear them under sweatshirts, I wear them a lot. They’re perfect for when it’s hot but you want your shoulders covered. Really nice light material for the warmer days. If I’m being honest, you can wear them a lot before they stink or get weird. I tried these on in store as well (like I basically do with everything, I’m so lucky 😇) and I went for the XL. I’ve got some muscular arms and I like to have a little space sometimes. The Large fit but was a bit tight, and for this shirt I wanted just a little room. I love the colors and the strechiness. 10/10 for me.

Ynes Long Sleeve Top
Regular price: $95
Web Description: Our smocked long-sleeve top outfitted with performance fabrication, a dri-release blend that's lightweight, breathable, soft, yet structured for owning the mountain from trailhead to summit.
My review: Oh it’s rare I leave the house without one of these in the spring, summer, and fall. We go on a walk? I throw it around my waste. We head out for a hike? I’m wearing it over my Kara Bra before I warm up. It has a slight mockneck too which is so cozy. I love this material, stretchy yet really sophisticated. The lettuce hem, I love. The colors! Like a lot of Halfdays things, this incorporates into your wardrobe for casual and even into dinner and around town type settings, outside of it’s obvious use of for the outdoors. Perfect weight, perfect stitching and hemming, the mockneck is everything, 10/10, will need another.
I have it in White and Orange (this is the new orange but I have last year’s) in Larges.

Fay Midweight Merino Top
Regular price: $130
Web Description: Our merino base layer top, a midweight blend of merino wool and bamboo to keep you warm from basecamp to backcountry.
My review: I’m loving this piece I got this winter. It hasn’t been too cold down in Denver, but I’ve gotten to wear it around Steamboat and the mountains. I initially loved the look of this shirt, with the darker stitching really catching my eye. I wanted it, I could see all of the opportunities to add it to outfits I was wearing even day to day, and I love a new base layer for skiing since we’re out at least 20 days per year. This will be perfect for when it cools down next season, and I’ve loved to use I’ve gotten out of it even this year. Soooooo cute and comfy, the mockneck (can you tell I like a mockneck?) is perfect and warm.
I have it in Spiked Cocoa in a Large.

I appreciate you reading through my first full gear review, on Halfdays! I truly love this brand and feel lucky to grab their pieces when I can. I love the activities they put on in communities across the US, and am constantly impressed by their marketing, their branding, their messaging, and the CEO presence. Thank you for not “pinking and shrinking”. Thank you for making clothes that fit my athletic body. I’m obsessed, I know you can tell, and that’s perfect. Check out their website: https://www.halfdays.com/
For reference: I am 5’4” and usually 165 lbs. Pants were my comfy and cheap Old Navy (basically gauchos) flare crop leggings.
As for what I got up to this week outside of work and the gym and a walk around town…
Vibe Artisan Market in RiNo 🖼️ ✨
This is a fab artisan market that comes around Denver twice(?) a year; we went last year and I got one of my most favorite ceramic sets ever from @cedarsunceramics on Instagram. I want everything she makes, plus she does workshops in town and I have been dying to sign up. This year I got a print from @fikkachica, who I’ve seen around Denver and Colorado for years now! She’s such a fabulous artist and the kindest, cutest, woman ever - her stuff is mountain and cowgirl themed <3 It was a hot one this year, and we went with Abbie, Alex, and Winnie, so we got in and out in just the right amount of time.
My new @fikkachica piece!

Arvada Skatepark 🛼 🛹
Midday Saturday we headed to the Arvada skatepark so the boys (Ryder and Alex) could have their skate fun. Ryder literally blew us all out of the fucking water, he’s progressing like insane on his inline skates. He is JUMPING and in the BOWL and 180ING and doing it all. He looks pro. It’s so cool to watch. Alex was getting incredible follow-cam footage! And throwing down on his skateboard. Abbie and Winnie and I took our time yapping and hanging out in the sun (umbrella!)(sunscreen!) and watching our boys. It was HOT, like 86 degrees hot, but we had some clouds pass through that helped.
Denver Central Market for Dinner 🍟 🥗
Denver Central Market is really cute and lively on a weekend night and we were feeling it so we went. It’s always always always good people watching if you sit outside, and it’s nice to have so many food options to choose from. I neeeeeeeeded that girl dinner, I needed that Caesar salad and fries, and I GOT IT. Winnie got to try a lemon for the first time and that girl realllllly loved that lemon. Ryder got a pizza, Abbie got fish and chips, and Alex got a couple sushi things. We really had the perfect 86 degree spring day with our besties.

Winter Park Spring Skiing 🎿 🌞
We took Sunday to go to Winter Park and hit some spring skiing. The snow is melting fast with the high temps and we’re seeing closing dates float around, so we’re trying to get out there as long as we can! Our strategy is to park in the G lot, take the bus in, and head over to the Gemini lift. We take that up and cross over to Prospector lift, which takes you above Ash Cat. We ride that down (this is the spot I’ve been working on my backwards riding), and then you’re in Ash Cat, which is the “small” terrain park at Winter Park. They usually have two lines, each with three flat boxes of various types, then one side has a rail and the other has the tube, and then each line has it’s own two jump lines. We usually lap that down and around, Prospector up and down through Ash Cat. This weekend I got to hike up and try the tube a bunch of times, my first times working on it! I’m getting the hang of it but hitting a tube is scary. That’s what I broke my ribs on. But it went great PLUS I’m progressing in the jump line, I accomplished my first full ski grab on a jump! It was so warm, 55 with some wind. I’ve got videos of my tube work on my Insta!

RHOSLC 🏔️ 👑
I’ve cracked open the second season and I’m so obsessed still. There are so many hints at Jen getting arrested, things popping off, I’m really in. I like Jennie as an addition, it’s interesting to see all these different perspectives! Omg I’ve watched Whitney and Meredith and then Jennie and Duy ski at Solitude, which is where we went for my birthday this past January, and I’m just in awe and shocked and like, mad that we didn’t see a housewife. That’s okay, next time. I know we’ll be back to UT to ski! –this second season is beyond. Jen vs Meredith and Brooks, Jennie, Mary, holy cow this cast, Whitney vs Lisa, Heather, I die. I’m eating it up. They’re hinting at Jen’s arrest!!!!!
I don’t necessarily think my opinion on the SLOMW and Bachelorette drama is needed but I have to let you know I am very much up to date and on it.
Twilights 1+2+3 🧛🏼♀️ 🐺
As easy watching on Sunday while we napped and did chores etc we had on Twilight, which turned into the second one, which will probably turn into the third if I’m being honest with you. I’m always surprised by how cheesy and almost like, super awkward the first movie is. It’s so quiet and slow and Robert Pattinson looks like he’s going to throw up the whole time 😆I might be realizing that Jake is the good guy but I also had a thing for becoming a vampire and living forever so…consider me still torn. For what it’s worth, when I went to the midnight premieres of the Twilight movies with my friends in highschool I did wear a Jacob shirt with his face on it. Alright also the second one is really cheesy. These movies are just cheesy huh…I love them. And I see how they were easy to parody. Checking back in and we did watch the third (it’s easy when they just automatically put on the next one for you 😇) and it doesn’t necessarily get better but it does. I Love These Movies.
Oh Jen!!
